Note that the hot water spring only comes up between two rocks in a small spot on the beach under the rock cliff face. The entire Hot Water beach is NOT a thermal area, only this one spot.

Beach walks are an added activity if the sea and tide conditions are not right for swimming or digging a hot pool. Take the 3km walk along the isolated white sand beach, between the two car parks.
Swimming in the surf at the beach can be a hazard so take care and follow the guidance of the life saving guards. So check the waves and the undertow and do not swim at night.
