Tips for Travelling to Hahei

Hahei and New Zealand's coastal roads are always an adventure so slow down, relax and enjoy the stunninng coastal scenery. As much as we would love to book sunshine for the duration of your stay, we cannot control the weather or the traffic events. After periods of heavy rain, there maybe Coromandel road closures. Here are our top tips for a safe arrival:

  • Keep up to date with local weather and roading information using the links below
  • Extra care should be taken following Cyclone Gabrielle in February, there may be slips and traffic management so allow extra time
  • SH25A is now closed until 20 December 2023 - use the alternative routes to get to Hahei if there are slips or road closures on your usual route to The Coromandel
  • Paeroa, Waihi, Whangamata and Tairua are awesome stops along the way - check out The Coromandel website and enjoy the journey
  • Plan your personal journey and take your time to get here in daylight hours
  • If rain is forecast, we recommend travelling at low tides times and look out for flooding or slips on the roads
  • Be prepared to divert if necessary and contact us if you need to arrange a late arrival
  • Camping check-in is 12pm and accommodation check-in is 2pm, latest check-in time is 9pm
  • Allow extra time during summer, Christmas, New Years Eve, Easter and public holiday weekends
  • Tune into our local radio stations - Coromandel's CFM or Coromandel's More FM
SH25A (Kopu-Hikuai) is due to re-open on 20 December 2023
