Let nature entertain you

Hahei Holiday Resort is walking distance to the gateway of the world-renowned Cathedral Cove walkway and views of the Coromandel Peninsula. Dial up the adventure as you wish. Surf, swim, kayak, SUP, fish from the beach or head out boating along this spectacular coastline.

The Te Pare Historic Reserve walkway with the remains of two prominent Ngati Hei pa sites has spectacular views at the southern end of the beach. Hot Water Beach is an easy 10 minutes drive away with many more year round adventures to uncover and entertain the whole family.

Cathedral Cove

A journey to the Coromandel Peninsula would not be complete without a walk to Cathedral Cove. World famous as featured in the filming of Narnia, you can create your very own magical moments to be captured on camera.

From the resort, it's approximately an hours walk along Hahei Beach over an undulating, well-formed coastal walking track, maintained by the Department of Conservation.

Experience the best of marine life at the Cathedral Cove Marine Reserve, we are so lucky to have pods of dolphins call this special place home.

For more information go to the Department of Conservation website.

Scenic Walk at Te Pare Reserve
Pa Hill Walking Track

The Pa site was once the home of the paramount chief of the Ngati Hei tribe, who named Hahei.

This well formed walking track is at the southern end of Hahei Beach, well worth an early morning rise to capture the silent sunrise views of the wild coastal landscape, Castle Rock Island and the Aldermans Island group. Rumour has it, there are many wedding proposals made right here!

Coastal walks at sea level below the Pa reveal more caves, rock pools, sea creatures and fish, an idyllic place for the kids to explore.

Natural Spa at Hot Water Beach
Hotwater Beach

A geothermal wonder of nature to be enjoyed year round. Hot Water Beach is a must-do New Zealand experience,  just a ten minute drive (8km) from the Hahei Holiday Resort.

Pack the surf board or just enjoy the Hot Water Beach village, a haven for funky eateries and art galleries.

Purangi Golf Club

Ping the golf ball around a 9 or 18 hole course and meet the locals at Purangi Golf and Country Club. The club is located on Hepburn road, off Purangi Road, between Hahei and Cooks Beach.

Boat Ramp

Hahei Holiday Resort does not have a boat ramp. With a tractor or 4WD, you can launch small boats of up to 4 metres from the Hahei Beach at the Pa road end from the creek exit. Surf conditions and experience are the limiting factors. For larger boats or for a no-drama-style launch, the Purangi River mouth concrete boat ramp at Cooks Beach may be the choice.

Pack the fishing rods! Casting straight out from the beach in front of our resort offers the thrill of catching your own dinner. Every Kiwi kid needs that shot of their first catch on the line.

Just remember to stay out of the Marine Reserve (we can show you where to go) and bring your lucky lures! Ice is available from reception for those heading out in the boat at the change of light.
